ANAHEIM — November 7, 2026. Anaheim Public Library is hosting Indie Author Day on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Central Library, 500 West Broadway, with more than 25 tables featuring local writers, poets and comic creators.
Workshops and readings
The library’s schedule includes author tabling throughout the day. At noon, Matthew Stern will discuss how to identify publishing scams and tell genuine opportunities from potentially misleading offers. At 1 p.m., Lab Press’s Doc Wyatt will discuss writing comics compared with film and television. Local author readings follow at 2 p.m.
Why independent authors matter
Small-press and self-published writers often face different challenges from people with major publishing contracts, including distribution, editing and promotion. The event creates an opportunity for readers to ask how books are made and for aspiring writers to learn about rights and professional risks.
Visitor planning
The library confirms the date and workshop schedule but does not guarantee that every writer or title will be present all day. Guests should check public-library directions for parking and accessibility. Books sold by participating authors may have prices even when visiting the library is free.
